The kamea of Mars
The 5 × 5 magic square of Mars: every line sums to 65.
The 5×5 magic square — every row, column, and diagonal sums to 65, and the total sum of all cells is 325. The sigils of Mars's entities are traced across this fiery grid, channeling martial force into geometric form.
The square
The kamea of Mars holds the numbers 1 to 25 in 5 rows of 5. Each row, each column and both diagonals add up to 65, and all the cells together to 325.
Row by row:
- 11 · 24 · 7 · 20 · 3 = 65
- 4 · 12 · 25 · 8 · 16 = 65
- 17 · 5 · 13 · 21 · 9 = 65
- 10 · 18 · 1 · 14 · 22 = 65
- 23 · 6 · 19 · 2 · 15 = 65
These numbers are Mars’s: 5, 25 cells, 65 on every line and 325 in all (the profile lists 5, 25, 125, 555).
How a sigil is traced
A sigil is a picture of an intention, or of a name, drawn by joining numbers on a kamea. Planetary Sigils follows a simple method:
- Write the intention and keep each letter once.
- Drop the vowels.
- Turn each consonant into a number, A = 1 to Z = 26. If that number is not on the square, reduce it to 1–9 (J = 1, K = 2 … R = 9).
- Find each number on the square and join them in order: a small circle marks the start, a short bar the end.
Example: COURAGE on the kamea of Mars. Unique letters COURAGE, consonants CRG:
- C 3
- R 18
- G 7
Work with a sigil of Mars in Mars’s own hour, ideally on Tuesday. Today’s planetary hours show when it falls.
The traditional sigils of Mars’s intelligence (Graphiel) and spirit (Bartzabel) were traced on this same square, from the Hebrew letters of their names.
Trace your own
Planetary Sigils does the reduction and draws the sigil for any intention on any of the kameas, then lets you watch it traced line by line, save it and share it.
